Please submit your email address on the home page to be kept up to date with 12 Hour Rugby 2008.
It will be run on Sunday 24th August 2008 (Bank Holiday Weekend).
In previous years 12 Hour Rugby has consisted of one single continuous women's rugby match, running from 8am to 8pm. It used a three-team rotation system with teams changing every 1/2 hour in order to allow players some time for rest, recuperation, food and drink, and running repairs. This means each participant could play as much as 8 hours of rugby in one day. This method has worked well so far and wil be used again in 2008.
No! Altrincham Kersal are a fun sociable club, and if you have any energy left after all that rugby, there's usually at least a disco put on afterwards for entertainment, and a bar to help you numb the pain.
Altrincham and Manchester have a huge range of accomodation venues to suit all pockets. From hostels and B&B's to luxury 5 star hotels. When AK hosted the events in 2002 and 2004 many travelling players pitched tents on the training ground and slept there. This will almost certainly happen again in 2008.
Players are expected to raise private sponsorship for their participation in the event. Family, friends, work colleagues, and employers are all possible sources for sponsorship. Further details and helpful tips will be sent out in participants registration packs.
The organising committee also has good links with local businesses and supporters who often donate generously to the event.
Yes. To ensure that the organising committee is not left to personally cover the administration costs of 12 Hour Rugby 2008 there will be a £10 player registration fee. This will be used to cover the costs associated with running the event (postage costs, players meals etc.) and any monies left over will be donated to the charities.
